Security in Hybrid Working

The report sets out the context in which cloud-based access control systems will increasingly operate – at the intersection between technology systems integration and the adoption of hybrid working by organizations, which is a key feature of the current landscape. Our study moves past the theoretical and sets out the facts of what is actually happening on the ground with hybrid uptake, digital transformation, building security, connected technology ecosystems and decision-making with data before going on to identify and discuss four different organizational typologies in Brivo’s custom ‘Framework for Hybrid Integration’. This model enables companies to plot where they are on their journey to digital transformation and hybrid working. It is based on the relationship between the level of system integration and the preparedness for adapting to the modern work environment. The four steps or stations along this journey are:

  • Bystanders: Companies that are defined by a low level of hybrid adoption and a low level of system integration.
  • Wanderers: Companies that have enthusiastically embarked on a journey to hybrid working, but in doing so, they have left themselves exposed.
  • Returners: Companies with low hybrid adoption but high systems integration.
  • Integrators: Companies that are leading the field when it comes to both hybrid adoption and system integration
